The Iowa Board of Medicine has issued public orders involving TWO (2) cases before the Board.
Recently, the Iowa Board of Medicine took the following actions:
Richard L. Dowell, D.O., a 55-year-old Iowa licensed physician who practices obstetrics and gynecology in Kansas City, Missouri, had a Statement of Charges issued by the Board on August 19, 2021. The Board alleged that Dr. Dowell violated a lawful Order of the Board. A disciplinary hearing shall be scheduled in the future.
Lynette I. Iles, M.D., a 57-year-old Iowa licensed physician who formerly practiced family medicine in Washington, Iowa, entered into a Settlement Agreement with the Board on August 19, 2021. On July 23, 2021, the Board filed a Statement of Charges alleging Dr. Iles engaged in professional incompetence with respect to her care of multiple patients, including failure to maintain adequate medical records, failure to properly manage patients’ pain, and failure to provide appropriate medical care. The Board also alleged that Dr. Iles failed to timely respond to a Board issued subpoena dated November 25, 2019, and further failed to respond to repeated attempts to follow up on the status of the subpoena from a Board Investigator, the Board’s Legal Director, and an Assistant Attorney General, and only responded after the Board compelled her to appear in District Court regarding her failure to comply. Under the terms of the August 19, 2021, Settlement Agreement, Dr. Iles was issued a Citation and Warning and she voluntarily surrendered her Iowa medical license.
When appropriate, disciplinary actions are reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank, an electronic repository administered by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration to track adverse license actions.
