PRESS RELEASE

IOWA BOARD OF MEDICINE

(April 30, 2020)

Recently, the Iowa Board of Medicine took the following action:

Scott K. Nau, M.D., a 67-year-old Iowa-licensed physician who practices pediatrics in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, entered into a combined Statement of Charges and Settlement Agreement with the Board on April 23, 2020.  The Board alleged that Dr. Nau engaged in unprofessional conduct when he entered into a sexual relationship with the mother of an active minor patient.  Under the terms of the April 23, 2020, combined Statement of Charges and Settlement Agreement, the Board issued Dr. Nau a Citation and Warning for engaging in unprofessional conduct and ordered him to pay a $1,000 civil penalty and complete a Board-approved professional ethics program.

When appropriate, disciplinary actions are reported to the National Practitioner Data Bank, an electronic repository administered by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration to track adverse license actions.
