DEA has finalized a rule authorizing prescribers to issue multiple prescriptions for Schedule II controlled substance pursuant to specific requirements. The final rule, which will become effective December 19, 2007, including a link to the DEA's rulemaking document can be viewed by clicking here. There is nothing in Iowa law that would prohibit the practice authorized by the federal rule. Therefore, the authority included in the federal rule will be effective for Iowa prescribers on December 19, 2007.
